DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL.

The usual monthly meeting of the Comm'ttee of Management was held in the Library Hall, Clyde, on Monday, the Bth instant, at 8 p.tn. Present—B. Naylor, Esq. (President), W. L. Simpson, Esq. < Vice-President), Rev. Mr Dewe, and Messrs Attfield Auckland, Beck, Clark, Cambridge, Holt, J. E. Stevens (Treasurer), Goo. Fache (Secretary), M. Summon (Tinker’s Gully), N. Anderson (Butcher’s Point). The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Tho correspondence was read and confirmed. The Visiting Committee’s No. 2 report, recommending payment of accounts for salaries and supplies for the month of March, -amounting to L 67 15s 1141, was read and received. The Treasurer said in tho above amount was included the insurance premium, LlO 10s. 'Mr Holt said that his charge was five shillings a week for water to the Hospital, 1 *iid.that it would continue until the Hospital had its own water supply. Passed accounts unpaid ...£229 14 1 A discussion ensued, tho debit balance claiming special attention, and raising the •question—what was to be -done to reduce it. The Colcctor said that he experienced great trouble in obtaining subscriptions, in fact, many distinctly refusing. He had sent lists throughout the district, and he hoped to get replies in the course of a month. The Collector was instructed to make an ■extra exertion towards collecting funds, and a hope was expressed that the outside members of the Committee, who were present, would represent the matter amongst their friends. The Surgeon's report was read, received and adopted. The No of Patients in Hospital 28th February, 2 ; remaining in 31st March, 2. Since admitted, 2 ; since discharged, 2 ; out-patients treated during the month, 10. .The following applications were now opened for the office of Surgeon to the Hospital, vice Dr Button resigned Dr T Leahy, A.8., M 8., T.C.D., L.R.C.5.1., L.M.R.C.S.I. . Dr A. Agassiz, M.R.C.S.E., L.M.E. Dr G. Feltham, L.R.C.P.E., M.R.C.S.E, L.M.E. A letter was also read from Dr Stackpole, Dunedin, asking for information. The various testimonials having been read, Mr W. L. Simpson said, that tho t)i plomas and testimonials of Dr Leahy were the best, and as he had a personal' knowledge of that gentleman, and knowing him to ho perfectly steady he would support his candidature, at tho same time it must be admitted that the testimonials of Dr Fellham were first class—he would to test the feelings of the Meeting propose that the application of Dr Leahy bo accepted, seconded by Mr Cambridge. The Committee all agreeing that Dr Leahy’s testimonials were the best, the motion was put and carried unanimously. Dr Leahy was sent lor and said he would bo able to take charge of the Institution at the latter end of the The Secretary was instructed to inform Dr Button of Dr Leahy's appointment, and intimate that he can Pave as soon as he can arrange, with his successor to take charge. Mr Auckland was elected member of the Visiting Committee vice Mr Cambridge retiring. Mr Auckland was put on the Bazaar Committee in the place of Dr Button, and it was arranged that the Bazaar is to bo held on Saturday, 4th May, 1878, in the Town Hall, Clyde. A vote of thanks to 'the chair concluded the proceedings.
