CLYDE DISTRICT SCHOOL.

u — The Annual Statutory meeting of Houser holders was held in the School-house, Clyde, on Monday the 28th January, 1878. Mr B. Naylor was voted to the Chair. Mr Denniston, Clerk, having read the report and abstract of accounts for the year they were, on the motion of ’ Mr 'Simpson,'seconded by Mr Cambridge, received' and adopted. Mr Denniston moved that the following seven gentlemen form the Committee for the'ensuing year—Messrs Naylor, Dennis* ton, Cambridge, Attfield, Simpson, Nettle* ' ■ fold, and Joss. Mr M ‘Pherson seconded, and there being no amendment these gentle* men were declared duly elected. On the motion of Mr Fache, seconded by Mr Simpson, a vote of thanks was recorded in favor of the Master and Mistress for the very efficient manner in which their duties had been performed during the past year. ■ On the motion of Mr Pacha, seconded by - Mr, Nettlefold, a similar - compliment was - , paid to the retiring Committee and the. >. officers. '■ ' The Chairman having, in accordance with the Education Act, read the notice fixing the first meeting of the now Committee for • - Friday the Ist February, at half-past seven o’clock, in tho School House, the meeting •• terminated with the usual vote of thanks; to ■ >; the Chair. The following is the annual Report of the ■ Committee for the year ended 31st December, 1877 Your Committee’s term of office having now expired, in accordance with the usual custom they beg to present their Annual Report "and Abstract of Accounts. The number of scholars on the 101 l at the ■, close of the School year is—boys, 49 ; girls, 41—Total 90, being exactly the same number as shewed last year. The average attendance for the year baa bean 68, this attendance being also identical with that of last year. Tho Committee regret- still to notice so large a discrepancy between the number of Children on the Roll and tho average at* - tendance, and would urge on parents the* necessity of sending their children with greater regularity in justice to the teacher# ~ aud themselves. During-the past year the School has not been visited by a Government Inspector, but the Committee have every reason to be entirely satisfied with the progress made by the pupils, and with the general conduct of the School.
