DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL.
The usual monthly meeting of the Committee of Management was held in the Library Hall, on Monday evening last, the 3rd instant. Present—B. Naylor, Esq. (President), W. L. Simpson, Esq. (vicePresident), and Messrs Auckland, Beck, Cambridge, Holt, Hotop. J. E. Stevens (Treasurer), and O. Fache (Secretary). The minutes of the lost monthly meeting and of the special meeting were read and confirmed.
Correspondence (inward) comprising letter from Mr J. Slattery, Tinker’s Gully, was read and received.
The Visiting Committee reported having visited the Institution several times during the month, and recommend that the closets be removed to the opposite side of the building. Resolved, That the recommendation of the Committee be carried out.
Report No. 2, recommending payment of of accounts for salaries and supplies for the month of November, amounting to L 66 8s 2d, was read and adopted. The Treasurer’s report, as follows was read and received:—
The Surgeon’s report, as follows, was read and received umber of patients in Hospital on 31st of October, 5 ; since admitted, 6 ; discharged, 3 ; died, 1 ; remaining in Hospital on 30th November, 7. Questions of ways and means was discussed, resulting in the following propositions :
Resolved, That the Secretary communicate with V. Pyke, Esq., M.H.R., re Government support to hospitals, and asking him to obtain, if possible, a grant of money for necessary repairs to the buildings. Resolved, That the Secretary write to Mr Dunn, Jun., re maintenance and support of his lather in the hospital. The Secretary was instructed to send circulars and subscription lists to the various station masters, and solicit their assistance in the collection of monies for the Institution from their'employees, shearers, etc.
The Treasurer stated that it had been mooted to him the getting up an auction bazaar in aid of the Institution. From what he understood such a thing would be warmly supported, and if the Committee gave their collective and individual support there was hut little doubt it would prove a financial success. The Treasurer amd Secretary were appointed a committee to fix the date and make such other arrangements as they may deem necessary. The Secretary was instructed to communicate with (Blacks and Tinker’s Gully, asking them to get up some entertainment in aid of the Institution. A vote of thanks to tho chair concluded the tweeting.
