PLOUGHING MATCH.

— o — first of these useful institutions in the Dunstan district will be held at Mr Chappie’s farm, Tiger Hill, on Friday, the 17th inst.: useful because they have the effect of bringing together the representatives of what must shortly be looked upon as the main interest of the County, for the interchange of ideas. Whether in any •other light, ploughing matches are useful we will leave others to say ; we have heard, however, that it is a moot point. Our own opinion would lead us to believe that in every way they are useful, and to that wo will hold till convinced to the contrary, and then we are afraid that “if convinced against our will we shall be of the same opinion still. ” The Blacks’ District Farmers’ Club deserve every support for their energy, and it will be much to be regretted if the farmers of other districts do not rally round them. The list of prizes and other particulars are to be found in another column.
