ALEXANDRA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
—o— A special meeting of the Council was held after the Revision Court, on Saturday, July 14th. The Mayor and full Council were present. The tender from Mr Beresford to fix spouting on the Town Hall, for Lll, was accepted. . * Resolved, on the motion of Cr Theyers— That the Council open the Town Hall on Wednesday, the 25th inst, with a Ball and Supper Tickets to admit lady and gentleman, 10s fid each. A letter was received from the 1.0. G.T. Golden Stream Lodge, asking for a decided answer to their application for the Hall, whether they could have it or not on the 27 th inst. Resolved, on the motion of Cr SimUionds —That the Hall be granted to them on that date for the sum of LI 10a. Resolved—That invitations to the Ball be sent to the Mayor and Councillors of Clyde ; the Mayors of Roxburgh and Cromwell; tho Member of the Vincent County Council for the Manuherikia Riding; the architect, inspector, and contractor; and the members of the Alexandra Brass Band. . Resolved—That tenders ho invited for supplying the Supper for the Ball. Tho meeting then adjourned until Wednesday, July ISth.
The ordinary meeting of the Council was hold on Wednesday, July ISA. Present— The Mayor and a full Council. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed, and the outward correspondence approved. A letter was received from the Colonial Treasurer, re fines in Magistrate’s Court being paid into the Borough fund ; from Mr Forrest, Secretary to the Alexandra Brass Band, offering their services at the ball. The Town Clerk was requested to c-mvey the thanks of the Council to the Band. The tenders for supplying the supper wore opened and read—from W, Beattie, Gs per head ; from H. Tohill, 4s 3d. Resolved that the tender from Mr 11. Tohill bn accepted. Resolved that the Town Clerk acknowledge the receipt of telegram from the Chairman of the County Council, re. bridge over the Mahuherikia river, and express the regret of tin's Council that so much delay has been caused by the plans and specifications being so much above the estimated cost. A vote of thanks to the Chair terminated the proceedings.
