MISAPPLICATION OF PUBLIC MONEY.
(TO THE EDITOR OF THE DUNSTAN TIMES.) Sir, — I wish you would explain more fully what you mean by imputing to the Cromwell Corporation the payment of public funds for obtaining signatures to political petitions for Separation and the resignation of our member, to both of which I am opposed as a ratepayer. Can it be true that our rates are improperly' expended this way ? What have the Mayor and Auditors to say to such things.—Yours, &c., Ratepayer. Cromwell, June 11th. [Such is the charge made against the Corporation, and it is not denied. Look in last week’s Argus, and it will be seen that “ a further sum of Ll2 ” was openly voted for the same purposes.— Ed. D.T.
