ALEXANDRA

(COMMUNICATED.) The workings lately opened, at Doctor’s Point, seven miles down the river, and at Frenchman’s Point are still looking exceedingly well, yielding handsome returns. The river being low, some of the noted beach claims at Butcher's 7 Point are at work ; there are also a good many (Chinamen principally) working on the beaches getting gold. Altogether, mining matters, and as a consequence, business, wears a brighter aspect than for some time past. The contractors of the new Town Hall are getting on with their work, and in a few weeks should turn it out of hand. The new Church building is also being pushed on ; in the course of the week the stone work will be completed, when to put the roof on and fit up the interior will not take long.
