(from our correspondent.) Dunedin, Fob. sth. Jaundiced Old Ironsides is bucking ahurriean. The following telegraphic message is in to-day’s Daily Times “ Fyke burned in effigy by voters at Cromwell, for giving casting vote, in favor of Clyde. Great indignation." People here hope it will not cause an earthquake in the great “ City of Dust.” Fob. 8. Since Sunday night till this morning there has been a continuous downpour of rain, doing an amount ot damage the estimate of which cannot yet bo ascertained. The streets for the time turned into small rivers, Maolaggan street being the largest. Landslips have taken place in and around the city, in soma cases damaging houses. The various linos of railway are seriously damaged by storm water and landslips. The lower floor of Union Bonded Store inundated, destroying or damaging COO tom. of sugar.
