CONVENTION.
Province of Otago, Superintendent’s ‘Office, Dunedin, 24th October, 1876. Sir, —I have the honor co request that you will be good enough to attend a meeting of the members of the House of Representatives and of the Provincial Council, Mayors of Municipalities, Chairmen of District Road Boards, ’and of local Education Committees, to lie held in the Provincial Council Hall, Dunedin, on Wednesday, the Bth November next, at 12 o’clock (noon), to confer and determine as to the best means ’ol extricating the Pi'iiince of Otago from the evil results involved in the “Abolition of Provinces Act.” I need not say that the present is a Crisis which demands the most serious uttentb n of all earnest men amongst us who have the future welfare of the Province at heart, and venture to hope that there will be a goodly muster of such at tho proposed meeting, which need not occupy more than one or two days.—l have, &c., J. In the event of there being no permanent Chairman of the School Committee in your district, perhaps you would kindly request the Committee to nominate one of its members to represent it.
