(FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT.) Dunedin, Sept, 28th. William Wilfrid Wilson is charged with perjury in the case Stamper v. Wilson, which was heard some time since. He is remanded for a week. Messrs Hanlon and Keilar’a application, Leaning Rook district, is postponed for a week, owing to the absence of Messrs Green and M’Kellar. The English St. Leger was won by Petraoh ; Tommy, second ; Julius Caesar, third. The Government is in another fog. The Counties Bill is like an old knife that requires a new blade and handle. The Government does not know what they want. Most likely the Bill will be withdrawn, and another substituted. A monster meeting was held in the Princess Theatre last night, two thousand being present. Messrs Macandrew and Stout were enthusiastically received. Both showed Abolition up in its true light in plain woids, tax yourself ami be thankful. A vote of confidence was carried by all except representatives of the Cargill-Fish Memorial measure. .1. G. S. Grant, Lloyde, and M’Laren, were conspicuous by their absence. Just at the close of above meeting some gameists distributed Cayenne pepper about, causing a general sneezing. A resolution was carried asking the Superintendent to call the Provincial Council and take plebiscite.
