ST. BATHANS.

(PROM OUR OWK CORRESPONDENT.) Tho Concert on Tuesday last, was as I anticipated a great success. Tiro Schoolroom was crowded, and the receipts will no doubt enable the Committee to clear off some portion of tho debt on tho building. Mr Warden Robinson very ably presided, and during the evening gave two Readings both of which met with well merited applause. Mr Pyle’s songyd!* Always do to others, &0.,” was capitally rendered, and ho was encored. Mr D. M. Scott’s Reading “ Mrs Caudle’s Umbrella Lecture,” given in feminine voice, elicited loud applause. Mr Holland in his two sorigs was successful in pleasing the audience. Two little girls, Miss B. Prescott, and Miss I. Gherkins, both gave some capital recitations, and the former in response to an encore gave a selection from “ Marmibn ” in a very spirited manner. The Sailor’s Hornpipe by Mr Cormick was ropeatod'y' applauded, and a Negro Song in character, also, by the same gentleman, could not have been better done by a professional. Messrs Campbell, Pyle, aud Holland gave a selection from “ II TraV/itore” very effectively. Mr Campbell’s Solo on tbe violin, “ Aulrl Robin Gray,” was performed in a masterly manner, aud was well received. Mr E. Douglas in tho Song “ Tho cl'ffs of Old Tynemouth,” and Mr Ewing in recitation;" were both excellent. ■ Mr Melvin brought tho performance to a close with a good old Scotch Sung. I must not forget the services rendered by Messrs Holland, Pyle and Campbell on Harmonium and violins respectively. At the conclusion three cheers were called for, and heartily given to the respected Chairman, Mr H. W. Robinson. A Ball kept up till the sma’ hours, furnished, what was really ] an enjoyable evening.
