—0 A PRE-EMPTIVE RIGHT. Mr William Fraser applied to purchase a pre-emptive right of 80 acres ou run No. 335b. —Granted. Mr Charles Nieper applied to purchase his residence area, at Butchers’ Gully, Cairn Hill District, being section 58, block I, and situate on run 249.—Approved in terms of the Warden’s recommendation, to the extent of one acre and a half. The District Land Officer at Clyde transmitted the applications of Manuel Joaquin to purchase half an acre or more at Ettrick township, he having occupied the land for more than seven years, built upon it, and otherwise improved it.—To wait survey. The Government to be asked to cut up the rest of the township, including that referred to in the present application. KASEBY. The District Land Officer at Nasehy forwarded the application of Mr W. Mardling, fur a lease of section 23, block VII, Rook and Pillar district.—Postponed. TAPAXUT. Mr John Graham, secretary to the Tapanni Progress Committee, wrote requesting that the sale of land in the Horiot Hundreds should take place at Tapanui. Mr Connell drew the attention of the Board to the hardship entailed on a number of applicants in consequence of land applied tor by them in Dunedin, and for which they were the applicants, being sold at the Mataura. He thought the principle of holding these sales in out-of-the-way places was had. It was stated by the Chief Commissoner and another member of the Board that, with the increased facilities for travelling consequent upon the opening up of railways, all lauds might eventually be sold in Dunedin or Invercargill. Mr Connell’s request was not acceded to.
