DUNSTAN JOCKEY CLUB.

A meeting of the Members of the Club ■was hold in the Club Room, Cox’s Port Phillip Hotel, on Wednesday evening Inst. Present, Jas. Hazlett, Esq., in the Chair, and Meat's Naylor, Simpson, Moore, Stewart, Denniston, (Treasure (Welsford, Cox, Eache, and Geo. Clark 1 (Secretary.) The minutes of the previous meeting was read and confirmed. The Chairman stated the business of the meeting was the election of officers tor the ensuing year, and to arrange for a Spring Meeting, when it was decided not to hive a meeting last summer it was understood that this Spring Meeting should have a liberal programme, and he hoped the Club would be able to see its way clear to carry it out.

Tho election of Officers was now proceeded with, and resulted as follows AV. Fraser, Esq (President), J. Hazlett, Esq. (Vice. President), J. A. Donnistnn, Eeq. (Treasurer), G. Clark, Esq. (Secretary), and Messrs Turnbull, A. E. B. Thomson, Stewart, Naylor, AVelsford, Eames, Cox, Attfield, aud Fache. Tho question of funds was now entered into, wheuit was explained that tholiabilities of the Club was about £OO. The Secretary stated that the subscriptions for the Spring Meeting were nearly £SO, and ho thought at least £2O more would he obtained. Resolved -That the Dunstan Jockey Club Race Meeting take place oil Friday, September 21th. Officers for the meeting were elected. Resolved—That a Sub-Committee, consisting of Messrs Simpson, A. R. B. Thomson, Stewart, and AA’clsford bo appointed to draw up a programme (stakes from 1.80 to L10O,) and to have the same inserted in the Dunstan Times of tho 27 th instant, and following issues. The Secretary was instructed to advertise preliminary notice of races’. The resignation of Mr AV. Grindley as a member of the Club was read. Resolved—That the resignation be accepted, and that a vote of thanks to Mr Grindley be recorded for the energy ever displayed by him in the interests of the Club, ami that a letter conveying same be written him. CORPORATION OF ALEXANDRA. —o — Tire ordinary meeting of the Council was held on the 18th instant. Present, the Mayor (in the Chair), and Councillors Beresford, Mackeasey, Finlay, and Thoyers. The minute sof the last meeting were read and confirmed The outward correspondence was read and approved. Resolved—That a memorial be sent to the Government praying for the railwway to be extended from Tuapeka to Roxburgh. Mr Constable Jones was appointed Inspector of Nuisances, subject to the approval of the Inspector of Police. Resolved—That the Public AAterks Committee be requested to continue the water channel across the ferry road ; also, to ascertain tlie cost of building a channel from the main street down to the river. Mr Theyers applied to the Council for permission to lay water pipes from the street to his back premises. This was granted on the usual conditions. The Town Clerk was instructed to summon for rates in arrear ; also, to cause all unregistered goats to be destroyed at once. An account from Mr J. Jones, for L 3 10s, wae passed for payment, A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
