Holt Claim, 15s, for trespass of defendant’s colt in plaintiff’s garden. Verdict for the amount, and costa. WARDEN’S COURT. Plastic. M’Nally, and Co. v. Holt.—Cancellation of certificate of defendant’s right to water from the Wai Keri Keri cre"k. Mr Johnson for plaintiffs. The Warden gave judgment in this case. The Warden said he did not feel justified in reversing a former decision given by him on a similar application, namely, inflicting a penalty in lion of forfeiture, and after reviewing at length the expressed opinions of the late Judge Gray, ■with respect to the right in question, and referring to the use the water of 'aid right had been put to for a number of years, lie adjudged penalty of Is, and costs, LI 17. Fisandiere o. C. T. Marie.—Cancellation of certificate for a water right from the Earnscleugh river; the allegation being that the water had not been used for a period extending over two months. Mr Johnson for plaintiff, and Mr Wilson for defendant. The evidence taken proving that the water had been in nse within two months. Mr Wilson applied for a nonsuit. —Granted, with costs, 1.2 18s. ALEX ANDRaTtOWn’cO D NCIL. —o— The ordinary meeting of this Council was held on August sth, 1875. Present—J. Samson, Esq. (Mayor), in the chair; Crs Maekersey, Finlay, and Theyers. The minutes of last meeting were confirmed. The outward correspondence was read and approved. The inward correspondence consisted of a I tier (which was read) from Clyde Council, requesting the co operation of this Council ia memorialising the Government to have the railway extended to Clyde. Cr Maokersey moved, Cr Theyers seconded, and was carried—That the Town Clerk reply, stating that this Council will ho glad to assist them in getting the line extended to Clyde. A telegram was read from MrT. L Shepherd, M.H.R., stating that the Ministry had promised to place a sum on the estimates for a new Post and Telegraph Office, at Alexandra. A draft of lease of Town Water Race was read from Mr Wilson, solicitor, which was approved, and the Town Clerk was instructed to ascertain if the lessees are agreeable to the conditTn. Moved by Cr Theyers, seconded hy Cr Mackcrsey, and carried—That a telegram he sent to Mr Fergus, Road Engineer, asking him how soon the Council may expect the road to he commenced between this place and Clyde. Crs Finlay and Beresford were appointed as Works Committee ; anil Crs Theyers and Mackersay as Finance Committee. Accounts to the amount of L 29 7s 4d were passed for payment. The usual vote of thanks to the Chair closed the meeting.

ALEXANDRA PUBLIC LIBRARY. —o— The monthly meeting was held in the Hall on Monday evening last the 9th instant. Present— Messrs Chappie, in the Chair, Samson, Robertson, and Ratcliffe. The minutes of the past meeting were read and confirmed. Mr Ratcliffe, Town Clerk, handed in a Cheque from Mr Constable Prendeville for L2 10s, Od. as a donation ; he explained that it was six months’ salary as Inspector of Nuisances, and he was instructed when the account was passed it to hand to tho Committee. The Secretary was instructed to convey to Mr Constable Prendeville the thanks of the Committee for his liberal gift. Accounts LI 10s., Daily Times; 10s., postage of Southern Mercury were passed for payment Messrs Samson, Ratcliffe and Robertson ■were instructed to make a selection of hooks from the catalogue to hand from the Educational Board, and submit the same to a mcetina to he held on the 16th instant. Mr M’Kerzio was elected a Member of tho Committee, in tho room of Mr M'Donald, resigned. The meeting then adjourned till tho 16th instant,
