CLYDE TOWN COUNCIL.

—o— Tho usual fortnightly meeting of tho Council was held in the Council Chaoibeis on Wednesday last, the Hth instant. Present: B. Naylor, Esq., Mayor, and Councillors Beck, Hastie, Joss, and Moore. This being the first meeting of the now Council, the Mayor opened the pioceedings in a brief address, wherein he expressed his gratification at being elected Mayor for the third time. He also referred to the works that would in all likelihood claim the attention of the Council during the year, and concluded by hoping that the greatest unanimity wou'd exist between him and the Council daring their deliberations. The minutes of the last meeting were now read ami confirmed. Correspondence, inward and outward, w;s read, received, and adopted. Crs Welsford, Hastie, and Beck were appointed members of the Public Works Committee. Crs Joss, Hurston and Moore, members of the Finance Committee. Applications for the office of Town Clerk, from Mr Drury, W. Fache and C. Hurston, were now opened and read. Un a ballot being taken, Mr C, Hueston was declared elected. Mr Cambridge’s account, LIT J2s 9d, was passed for payment.
