u—(to tub editor of the dunstan times. ) Sir, I would like, through your columns, to ask Mr D. A. Jolly, Mayor of Cromwell, one or two questions:— 1. Is it not a fact that his Nomination Paper was informal and invalid by reason of his being only nominated to hold ofliee for the present year, that is to say, 1875 f 2. Was not the said Nomination Paper altered, in so far as the figures 1875 were altered to 1876, and subsequently tampered with by some person, T will add, unknown ? 3. If any such alteration occurred, was it before or after David • Anderson Jolly declared himself elected Mayor for the ensuing year 1875 and 1876 ? 4. Did not David Anderson Jolly preside at his own nomination, well-knowing that Section 19, Otago Municipal Corporations’ Ordinance, 1865, enacted—“ Every election of Mayor, Councillors, and Auditors, shall beheld before a Councillor, or other person authorised by the Council, but no Candidate shall preside, etc.” ? 5. Did a special meeting of the Council take place on last Monday, and were these matters considered, and were the doors closed ? 6. After the said meeting had assembled, and the door of the Council, Chambers was closed, did the Town Clerk proceed to the Cromwell Argus Office, and therefrom was he accompanied to the place of meeting by the proprietor of the Cromwell Argus ? 7. After Crs Whether, Talboys, Arndt, and Mr Colclough bad left the Council Chamber, did he, with the said proprietor, remain in the Council Chamber for some time ? 8. When David Anderson Jolly addressed the citizens at the Town Hall, on Monday evening last, in speaking] ot the Dunstan Times, did he refer to that journal, or to tliu Correspondent thereof? I put these questions categorically, and if David Anderson Jolly, Esq., will answer these questions he will confer a favor, not only upon the general public, but also upon —Yours, &c., Edward A. Drury.
