—o — Dunedin, June 19. Tho following reply has been passed to Message No. 17 : —That this Council, having considered his Honor’s Message No. 17, relative to the construction of a lino of railway from Lawrence to Beaumont, concur in the proposal therein contained, &c., respectfully requests that his Honor will proceed with the construction of tho same, and also of the line from Waynes to Waihemo. That, it provision is made for the veto LOO,OOO, from Lawrence to Beaumont, this Council is also prepared to sanction that provision should bo made for the construction of a bridge over the Kawarau at the junction with tho Arrow River, such bridge being on the main line of road, and required to complete the chain of communication from Lawrence to the Lakes, provided that such works be constructed only out of the loan. The advan ‘e expected from th« Colon!: 1 Government of two hundred thousand pounds, is understood to be treated as a loan. The Council will sit to-day, and probably prorogue.
