TELEGRAPHIC INTELLIGENCE.

Dunedin, Juno 3rd. Mr Donald Reid’s want of confidence motion was carried by a majority of five. The Basting’s Government never possessed the confidence of the House, and no one expected that it could stand. The new Executive was announced today, ns follows : —Provincial Secretary, and Secretary for Works—Mr Donald Reid ; Treasurer—Davie ; Goldfields Secretary—■ MacKellar ; Lands—Gr p en ; Provincial Solicitor—Stout; Lumsdon and Steward without portfolios. Turnbull declined to take office. Davie and Green joining their forces has given general satisfaction to both sides. It is generally considered that Mr Mac* kellar’s administration of Goldfields’ affairs has been satisfactory both to the Province and the mining interests, irrespective of his detractors, who apparently only want a billet. Public business should proceed now in a satisfactory manner. THE LATEST. 5 p.m. The new Executive took their scats this afternoon. Mr Reid made a general statement, announcing the intention of the Government to proceed at once with the business. T1 e first estimates would be adhered to, but to avoid placing many members in invidious positions of perhaps voting against sums for their own districts, supplementary estimat's would contain items put on amended estimates by late Government. He (Mr Reid) paid a tribute of respect to his late colleague Mr Turnbull, who had declined for private reasons to again accept office, after announcing other members. Mr Reid explained the circumstances under which he had induced Mr Green to join the Government, and anticipated great benefits from his assistance. Several others spoke in a similar strain. Mr Pish made a long and moderate speech. Referring to the Goldfields Secretary ho said, the only objection he ever had asrainst Mr MacKellar was the manner of his joining the Government. This was replied to satisfactorily by Mr MacKel’ar. Mr Green also explained to the House the reasons whi.h had induced him to join.
