ALEXANDRA TOWN COUNCIL.

The ordinary meeting of the Council was hold on Wednesday, February 3rd. Present—lames Samson. Esq.. Flavor, in the the Chair ; and Councillors Finlay, Thoyers, and BerosWd.

The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed.

Tho outward correspondence was read and approved. A denotation from the rateuayers in Clutha Ward waited upon tlie Council to request them to make a dra'n in Enris street, to carry off the refuse water from the back premiaas of those living in Tarbert street. The Mavor in reply stated that the Council were, wiping to accede to their request. and would take steps to have the work done. Moved hv Cr Theyers, seconded by Cr Finlay, and carried—“ That Mr Samson, the Mavor. he rpmiefped to wait upon Mr M Keller, the Ooldflelds Secretary, and to request. Mr Hax’ett. the Member f or the district to ass : st. him in urging th" necessity of the road lining rua’e to the Waikaia Bush, and that a snffici' nt sura he p’aced unon the Estimates for that purpose at the ensuing Session.” Tho Finance Committee reported that they had a.n interview with the Lessees of the Paco, respecting the boxes belonging to the '"'n-po’-nfior., and bad eon* chided tho Ra’c of thorn for L'-T Accounts to the amount of LSI I2s Od were passed for payment. Moved by Cr Finlay, s econ dpj by Cr Beresford, and carried—“ That the Town Clerk give notice to Mr Brown that, his contract for cleaning the streets will ceasa

iif a mouth from date ; and that fresh tenders bo called for keeping the whole of the streets clean and the water race for twelve months, tenders to .bo sent in before next meeting of Council.' ’ It wns resolved that the Town procure a supply of chloride of lime to be distributed to any person in town who requires it.
