CLYDE TOWN COUNCIL.

A special meeting of the Council was held on Wednesday evening last to decide on the Tenders fyr the construction of tho Bridgo across theMolynoux at Clyde. Jas Hazlett, Esq., who occupied the Chair, called on tho Town Clerk to read tho correspondence concerning tho same. The Town Clerk read letter to I). L. Simpson, Esq , Engineer of plans and specifications, asking him if he would advise an alteration in the plans as prepared ; a’so reply, to tho effect that the lowest tender was a reasonable one, and recommending that tho plans and specifications ho adhered to ; also, a telegram from Mr Arthur, Provincial Engineer to the same effect. After discussion it was resolved—That the ten lor of Mr W. Grant of Cromwell for the sum of 5,345f. ho accepted, conditionally that ho raise the piers, or otherwise. at the option of the Council, for the sum of 57 1. The Town Clerk was instructed to have Agreement drawn up between the contracting parties, and otherwise have the tender complete 1. A vote of thanks to the Chair concluded the meeting.
