DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL.

(to the editor of the dunstan times. ) Sir. - 1 perceive by an advertisement in your last week’s issue, that a Concert is to take place at Clyde on the 11th of next month, for the benefit of the Dunstan District Hospital; after which a dance will add further amusement. The latter piece of information 1 acquired by glancing at one of the tickets which are issued for sale at the very reasonable charge of 4s. The town of Clyde is not, at the best of times enlivened with too much music, and I think, on this special occasion we can 41 kill two birds with one stone” by passing away a few hours in social enjoyment, and at the same time adding to the funds of so praiseworthy an object “ The District Hospital.”

In conclusion, Mr Editor, there are a few reasons why we should heartily support this effort on behalf of the above named Institution that 1 should like to mention. They are :—lstly. The funds of the Hospital at the present time are at a very lowebb. 2ndly. We shall, shortly, have to rely on the help derived from our own mure immediate vicinity, seeing that the district of Cromwell will very soon secede, and the help from that quarter we have hitherto had will thus be cat off; and 3rdly. A serious amount of damage has been sustained of late, caused by the gale that a few days ago passed over thisdistrict, which unroofed the greater portion of the Hospital building, besides doing mischief to other of the premises.

The above reasons will, no doubt, elicit the hearty support of all, and a fall house will be the result. Hoping to see the Town Hall crowded with happy faces on the •lid evening—! am, &c., Benevolence. Clyde, Oct. 28th, 1874.
