The next sitting of the Distinct Court at Clyde is fixed for Monday, October 19. By reference to our advertising columns it will be seen that Mr M'Eaohen, photographer, will open his Studio, at Clyde, on the 21st instant. We also desire to draw attention to the advertisement stating that it is intended to open a Lodge of Good Templars, at the Town Hall, Clyde, on the 15th instant. Mr Holt has again got his coal-pit in full working order, and as he notifies, is prepared to supply coals in any quantity. We are privately informed that on an analysis by Professor Black of Dunedin of a variety of brands of brandies that, sulphuric acid in a greater or lesser degree was detected in each. A Special Service will be held in the Church of England, Clyde this evening, when a Collection for special Church purposes will be made. The pneumatic dredge has been released from her perilous position, and is now again afloat, and from what w T e can hear but little damaged for her partial immersion. It is contemplated to again fit her up and give her another trial : we hope that she will meet with no further mishap, and that in her future workings she may have bettei luck than up to the present.

We are informed that a sixth share in the XL Water, race at Tinker’s was sold on Wednesday last under a Warrant of Distress, realizing L 723 odd, Mr Sirnes being the purchaser. On the same day Mr J. C. Chappie sold a fourth share in a water-race and claim at Devonshire Gully for L 325, Mr Bon Charles the purchaser.
