Sir I observe amongst your Wellington telegrams a statement that I “ strongly opposed ” the Gold-fields’ Bill, “ as the Committee were considering (the measure. ’ Permit me to assure you that this assertion is a direct violation of the truth. 1 observe t?le same statement in the “ Wakatip Mail,” and I have no difliculty in recognising the “ fine Homan hand ” of the mendacious inventor.
