DUNSTAN DISTRICT-HOSPITAL.
The usual monthly meeting of the Committee of Management was held at the Committee Room, Town Hall, Clyde, on Monday evening last, the 6tK inst. Present]: Messrs J. Hazlett (President), W. L, Simpson (Vice-President), Cambridge, Auckland, Beck, Clark, Stevens, Hastie, Christophers (Treasurer), and G, Fache (Secretary). minutes. The minutes of previous meetings were received. correstonokce. The inward and outward correspondence was read, received, and adopted.. RETORTS. Tire Visiting Committee’s No. 1 report referred to the ventilation of some of the wards and the closets, and recommended that action be at orrcc taken to remedy existing defects ; also recommended that a man bo employed to put the Hospital grounds in repair, was read and received. Report No. 2, recommending payment for the month of May, 1891. 10s. Bd., and for Juno, 120 L 18a. Gd., was read and adopted. The Treasurer’s Report for the mouths of May and June, as follows, was read and adopted. Receipts: Matakanui Station, per Mr J.P.

Month of May : Patients admitted during the month 13 ~ discharged ... ... 12 ~ died ... ... ... 3 ~ remaining in Hospital on the 31st of May ... ... 17 The patients admitted were from Cromwell, 3 ; Alexandra, 3; Mount Pisa, Cardroua, Clyde, Campbell’s Gully, Black’s, Ika Valley, one each. Those dismissed were—Cromwell, 6 ; Teviot, 2; Alexandra, Cardrona, Black's, and Karuselcugh Station, ouo. Ten out-door patients were treated during tho month. June : Patients admitted during tho mouth 13 ~ disehaiged ... ... 16 ~ remaining in Hospital on the 30th of Juno ... ... 10 The patients admitted were from Black’s, 4 ; Clyde, 2 ; Alexandra, 2 ; Cromwell, Moa Flat, Moutere, Spear-grass Flat, and Tinker’s, one each, The patients dismissed were - Cromwell, 3 ; Alexandra, 3 ; Clyde, 3 ; Black’s, 3 ! Bannockburn, Campbell’s Gully, Cardrona, and Tinker’s Gully, one each. Both reports also deal with the ventilation and the closets, and conclude by expressions of willingness to give any information on the subject, or on any other bearing or having reference to the wellbeing of the Institution. GESUKAL. The \ isiting Committee wore directed to confer with the Resident Surgeon on ventilation and closets, and report cost of proposed alterations at next meeting of Committee.
The Treasurer spoke to the fact of the Institution being in debt. lie said, as no further contributions might be expected from the Cromwell district, he seeing by local papers that a hospital was shortly to be erected theie, it was incumbent on the Committee to exorcise strict economy in the management, and, at the same time, to use extra exertions in the collection of funds. Several members spoke, one and all admitting the liability. After some further discussion, the Collector was instructed to make a thorough canvas for funds ; also to make out a list of defaulting paying patients.
Messrs. Hastieand Beck were ro-clectod members of the Visiting Committee. The meeting then closed with the usual vote to the Chairman.
