WASTE LANDS’ BOARD.

—o— The usual sitting of the Waste Lands Board, Dunedin, was held on Wednesday last the 17 th instant the following local business was transacted. Mr M'Kellar for Messsrs Pierce and Dawkins, asked for reconsideration of their respective applications for sections 2 and 3 block I, Cromwell, with a view to having the price of the same reduced. The land was occupied for slaughter-house purposes. After consideration, it was resolved that the land be sold by auction as land of special value, having been so long witheld from sale ; upset price, 21s. per acre; ruuholder’s consent to sale to be got, and purchaser to pay valuation for improvements. Mr Bradshaw, for Messrs Kirk, M‘El- - Johnstone, M‘Kay, Drummond, and Coulter, applied for protection to prospect for copper over SO acres ot run SCO, northwest of Roxburgh. It appeared that good prospects had been found, but the exact place to be leased could not yen be pointed out. Siv months’ protection was granted. The District Land Officer, Clyde, wrote suggesting the creation of a new land district for Roxburgh, and the keeping of separate records. - The Board did not see its way to move in the matter at once, and the letter was merely noted as having been received. The District Land Officer, Naseby, suggested that an order should he given that all applications for land should be advertised three weeks in the local newspaper. Suggestion approved of, applicants for laud to bear expense of advertising. Applications were made as follows to purchase lands held under agricultural lease— Mr Joseph Glass, section 8, block 11, Tiger Hill. Mr James Connew, sections 92 and 112, Leaning Rock. Mr Glass’s application was approved of, but Mr Connew’s was refused, as the land stood in the same category as Mr Feraud’s csce noted application—it was variferens;
