WASTE LANDS BOARD.
At. flic sitting nf the Waste Lands Board Dunedin, held nn the 9th instant, the following business of local importance was transacted : MrT. Wilson applied to purchase section 4, Leaning lioek district, on ran 221, with the consent of the runholder.—Postponed. Mr Stout applied nn behalf of Messrs Thomson and Irving, for a coal lease of section 117, block It, Leaning Hock district. Mr Gillies oppose.d the application, on behalf of Mr Mario, and called witnesses to show that his client had been supplying coal to the inhabitants of the district, and that there was no necessity for another pit to bo opened. The Hoard decided to put the lease of the section up to auction, with a valuation for the improv'oraehts with regard to access au l drainage made by Marie. An application was md frem Messrs Thompson and M'Breen for exchange of lease of section 15, Block 11, Tiger Hill. Tills was agreed to. Mr W. Goolall applied to purchase or lease from 50 to 25n acres on ■ Loughnan’s Turn on the Clutha river, about ten miles aoove Cromwell, The Board had no power to ueal in the matter.
