The Secretary read fho advertisement conVeiiiug the meeting—the election of a Surgeon, and said, it was necessary to appoint a presiding officer. Mr. J, G. T. Thomson and Dr. R. W. dtirling, 21 votes for t-a-h being recorded, what rext step to ho taken is left for you to decide. I Mr. Hnzlett then vacated the chair, U, on being reinstated, he said the principal business was the election of a new Com- . mittee and to arrange for a fresh election, 1 After a great deal of discussion, it was resolved that the fresh election for a Hcadent Sdrgean be on Saturday, the 14th of . February. I Mr. Hazlett said a good deal of feeling had been exhibited over the question of salary for the President Surgeon. He thought it better that the subscribers should relieve the Committee of Management, of the responsibility of fixing the salary. Mr. Simpson said the funds would not warrant a higher salary than 300/. per annum.. The report for the past year showed a liability of over 12/. 1 , Mr, Faehe took exception to Mr. Simpson’s interpretation of the report, and explained there was an asset of 141/. odd to Counterbalance the 12/. ; and further, that subscriptions wore due equal to 80/. Several gentlemen having spoken, Mr. Simpson proposed and Mr. Tail seconded, That the salary he 300/. per annum. Carried. A special meeting of the Committee of Management was held in the Committee room, Town Hall, Clyde, on Wednesday afternoon, the 14th instant, at 4 o’aloek. Present : Messrs, hazlett (President), Hastie, Cambiidgc, Auckland, Beck, and G. Fache (Secretary). Messrs. Hastie end Clark were, elected members of the Visiting Committee.
