VISIT OF HIS EXCELLENCY SIR JAMES FERGUSON.
On "Wednesday last His Excellency Sir James Ferguson, (iovernor <>f Hew Zealand, accompanied by his Honor the Superintendent of the Province, James Macamlrew made a hasty journey through the district, having left Roxburgh at 3, p. in, and arriving at .Clyde at 9.3(1. the same evening. On passing through. Alexandra the party pulled up opposite the Public Library where they were mot by the Mayor and Council. His Excellency responded to the kindly gieeting given him, declining to partake of any refreshment, and without alighting passed on to Clyde, where on arrival His Kxcellenoy proceeded to the Town Hall, an 1 received an address of wclcora •, briefly respon ling, ho at once retired to Karnes's Uunstan Hotel, and dined privately. At 9, a.in. on the following morning the party proceeded on their way, arriving at Cromwell at about 11. Each town was gaily {bedecked in bunting in honor of the visit of Vice Royalty, and at Clyde ’be brass band at tended, and performed some of their choicest music.
