ELECTION OF RESIDENT SURGEON.
(TO THE EDITOR OF THE DCNSTAN TIMES). Sir As the election for a Resident ourgcon for the Dunstan District Hospital 'vill take place on the 10th instant, perhaps vou would he so good as to allow me space for a few remarks on this to me most important subject. I trust Mr. Editor that the subscribers will not forget the fact, when voting, that they are not only voting foi themselves but for the benefit of e''ery unfortunate who may be compelled, through accident or otherwise, to seek relief in the Hospital, and how many of this class, who are brought to the Institution is well known to the public and to you, and I have no hesitation in saying that should the subscribers keep this fact in n.ind on the day of election that the present Resident Surgeon, Dr. Stirling will head the Poll, as it is well known that, for kindness to his patients, attention to hia duties, and economy in the management of the Institution over which he has so long presided, he liasnever been excelled, and 1 even to go so far as to eay he has not been equalled by any rif Lis predecessors, end were (he result cf the

The out-door patients were from Alexandra district, 3; Cardrona, 1 ; Tinkers, 1; Prospect Plat, 1; Garrick, 1; Cromwell, 1. The Visiting Committee were re-appoint-ed till the annual meeting. Mr Christophers stated it was his intention to resign the position of Treasurer to the Institution, on Satu-day at the annual meeting, he would fully explain his reasons ; he mentioned the matter so that the subscribers might be prepared with a successor. A vote of thanks to the Chair concluded the meeting.
