ALEXANDRA TOWN COUNCIL.
The ordirary mretii g of the Council was held on T)ec. 12, 1873 The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The inward correspondence was read and received, namely, firm Mr. J. C. Chappie, as inc permission to lift the ] ij os t] at he had laid fieri ss the street, and to sn' s'itu‘e a stone culvert ; the Coni oil resolved to gi ve him pemission to lift the ph es, hut. object to a stone cr.l' ctt.heinc made. From Thomas Graham, applying for seven pounds en his contract which was allowed. Move' hy Councillor Rivcis, seconded by Councillor, Samson and carried—That two guineas he riven as a prize 'o the best schola- at the Chri-tma? examination. Proposed hv Couneillnr Samson, se'-ond-cd hy Councillor MTmnald, and eanied— That the tender from George Brown for making up the race, and ke- ping the streets clean, &.c, for twelve months he accepted. The following accounts were passed for payment --J. C Chappie, If. 10s. ; Alexandra Library, 3/. Messrs. George Ilatcliffo and Robert Meroer were appointed valuators for the current year.
