ALEXANDRA TOWN COUNCIL.
o The ordinary meeting of the Council was held on the 14th inst, Present: The Mayor (in the chair), and Councillors M‘Donald, Morris, Samson, and Rivers. The minutes of lust meeting were read and confirmed. The following correspondence was read and received, namely : From Provincial Treasurer, stating that he had placed 150/. to the credit of the Corporation in the Bank of New Zealand ; from Mr. Chappie, complaining of the water overflowing the town-race in front of his residence ; from Mr. L. G. Ryan, asking permission to lay down piping under the foot-path, for the purpose of conveying water from the street to the back of his premises . the application was granted. Tne Mayor stated that be had been informed, a few days after the last meeting of the Counci/, Mr. Chappie had again cut a channel across the street, in defiance of the resolution parsed at that meeting. He (the Mayor) therefore gave instructions to the Town Clerk to lay an information against Mr. Chappie for removing the surface without permission. Moved by Councillor Rivers, seconded by Councillor Morris, and carried, That this Council approve the action taken by the Mayor in laying an information against Mr. Chappie. Councillor Rivers brought forward the motion laid on the table at the last meeting, That tenders be invited for keeping the streets clean for twelve months ; also to keep the town-race clean and in- proper repair, and to see that the proper quantity of water is supplied to the town. Resolved. That a notice be published, inviting applications for the office of Assessors applications to be sent in to the Town Clerk on or before the 12th of December nest.
