CLYDE TOWN COUNCIL.

o The usual fortnightly meeting of the Council was held in the Council Chamber on Wednesday evening last, the 10th insf. Present:—Mr. J. U. Cambridge, Mayor, and Councillors Naylor, Auckland, Beck, and Marshall, The minutes of the last meeting, also declaration of Benjamin Naylor the Mayor elect, were read and confirmed. Inward correspondence, being telegrams frduJ. Hazlett, Esq., M.P.C., to the effect that the Water Works Bill and other matters relating to the town, were under the consideration of the Provincial Council, were read and received. The outward correspondence, including letters to J. Hazlett, Esq., M.P.C., and to the Colonial Secretary, notifying the election of Mr. Ben jamin Naylor as Mayor for the year 1873-4, were read and adopted. The Committee appointed to report on the Water Works Bill and the Bridge stated that, further than communicating with the District Member, nothing had been done. The following accounts, amounting to 43/. 95., were passed for paymentJ. Holloway, 2/. 155., day labor , T. Hannon and Co., 21/. 3s. Cd., gravelling street ; W. Auckland, 31. Ss., kerosene, &c. ; T. Webb, 125., cleaning ; C. Hueston, Cs. Cd., carpenter’s work ; Mills, Dick, and Co , 1/., advertising ; J. Tyrrell, 3/. Bs. (id., repairing Town Hall; E. J. Wilson, 12/. 15s. Cd., 1 legal expenses.
