MUNICIPAL ELECTION, CLYDE.
— o — Foe Mayor. On Monday last the 14th instant at noon, Ir. J. U. Cambridge, Mayer, as .Returning Milccr, attended with the Town Clerk at ho Town Hall, and proceeded to read the lomhiations for the office of Mayor. Proposed by Mr. George Clark, seconded iy William Grindley, That Mr. Benjamin Taylor is a fit and proper person to bo looted as Mayor of Clyde. The Returning Officer said there being mt one nomination, he must declare Mr. 'Taylor as elected. Mr. Naylor came forward and said, — lentlcmcn—l desire to thank you for the lonorablo position you have placed me in, ho honor is no slight one, and I will cneavor during my time of office to further he interests of the Town 1 wish to make few remarks in favor of our present layor, Mr. Cambridge. I consider ho has icen a diligent, cartful, and watchful man,
' ami every credit is due to him for the . efficient manner he has discharged the > duties of the office. On the expiration of . my term of office, I shallba satisfied if my . successor has the same good opinion of mo. i Again'] thanking you, Gentlemen, for the honor. A vote of thanks to the Returning Officer, brought the proceedings to a close. ALEXANDRA. On the same day the nomination for the office of Mayor took] place, when Mr. W. Bercsford was re-elected without opposition.
