ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE
0 We do not identify ourselves with the opinions that may be expressed by our correspondents.] o—(to the editor of the dunstan times.) Sir, —I see that at the last meeting of the Was.e Lands Board the application of Mr. Jay to purchase his agricultural lease in the Wai Keii Kcri Valley was referred to the District Land Officer to state if there won’d ho any objections to the purchase. Now Sir, in my humble opinion, I should have thought quite sufficient objections had hern forwarded to the Government, without any more being required. I should like to know what has heroine-of the petition scut down some months ago, and signed by several hundred perstns. Doubtless consigned to the waste-paper basket, or used to light the fires in the various Government offices. What good did the deputation do who waited upon the Superintendent, and whom I distinctly undei stood received the promise of the Government not to sell or lease any more land in the Wai Keri Keri D strict! And last, thouch not least, what good has the Miners’ Association done in the matter, if in the face of all these objections, petitions, and promises, the Government will still persist in selling the land in the Wai Keri District ? By inserting the above in your journal you will oblige, I am, frc., A Mining Associate. Clyde, May 29, 1873.
