CLYDE TOWN COUNCIL.

The usual fortnightly meeting of the Council was held in the Council Chambers on Wednesday evening las*t the 29 hj inst. Present, J. U, Cambridge, Mayor, and Councillors Hazlett, Patterson, Marshall, Naylor, Auckland and Feraud. The minutes of previous meeting were read ami confirmed. The inward and outward correspondence wasjread received and adopted. In respect to a letter received from Mess. Hart and Buckley of Wellington, respecting Bill of Costs respecting Water Works’ Bill, it was resolved that Mr. F. J. Wilson, Solicitor, be instructed to reply. The Mayor said it was understood his Honor the Superintendent and H. Bastings Esin, Secretary for the Goldfields would visit Clyde in the course of the week. After some discussion, it was resolved, That the Mayor and Councillors Hazlett, Naylor and Marshall receive his Honor on his arrival. The Public Works Committee reported that, at the next meeting, they would be prepared with a report as to repairs and additions required to Town Hall. Resolved, That the sum of 51. be voted to the Clyde Brass Band. Accounts amounting to 19f. 12s. 9d.. were passed for payment. The account of the Dmistan Times, I SI. 13s - , was objected to, the Finance Committee deeming the charge excessive. The collection of Dog, Goat, and Carriage licenses was taken into consideration. After some discussion it was arranged that the Town Clerk be allowed 10 per cent, on the collection of the same. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the Chair.
