King performed the duties of Clerk of the Course iu his usual efficient style. Shortly after noon, the bell rang for the Hack Race of 11. 10s-, for all catiaired district horses that have never won ’an advertised race. Distance, one mile • ICst. poit entry, Ids. Mr Douglas’s Rederiek (M’Gibbin 1 do Eiim O’lynu (Smith) 2 Ginger, Tussock, Charley, Governor, Minnie, and Wildflrishman also started. This race was well ai d garni ly fought, but the superior stuff of Redtiick, as well as his condition, brought him fiist to the Judge’s post. District-bred Horses Race of 15/. Cpcn for all horses bred in the Wakatip Goldfields Distiict. ‘Distiance, cne and a half miles. Entry 1/. Welter weights for age. The winner of any race cf the value of 20/, to carry 71bs penalty. Mr. O’Brien’s Travelling Maid, lOst 1 lib, (Callaghan) ... ... 1 Benin ing’sl[Flying Ckud, Cst 1 lib (Cepe) ... ... 2 Walsh’s Little Dick, Cst 1 lib... Aitkcnhead’s Lady ... ... 0 Jones’ Ne’y was also entered, buf through son.e accident did not get a start. Much interest was evinced in this race, as the horsis were well known, and betting on the result was the consequence. A fair start was effected, and Little Dick went off with a strong had, which he maintained only about half the distance, when the Cloud overhauled him, ths Maid coming well up. A quarter cl a mPe from home, Callaghan let the mare out, and she cut through the field, and landed an easy winner. Lack Selling Race of 10/. One mils hiats. Open to all untrained distiict horses that have never won ah advertised prize. Distance, Unco miles. Weight, lOstCib. Entry, it’s. Mr. Douglas’s Jock (Maekay) .. I M‘Ardell’s Fidget (Goodsir) ... 2 Fahey’s Kitty (Mullins) ... 3 Seven ethers were entered and ran. This was pet Imps as interesting a race as any on the card, and cpiiile a hatulsente field storied. After settling down to work, it was seen that Jock had obtained a leading position, anil was going at a steady pace—Fidget keeping well up, and Kitty going well. After the fiist round, the race was between those three, Fidget gaining. A quarter ef a mile trim the post, Hie mate let out aud passed Jock, but her rider injudiciously laid the whip actors her shoul- < er, and she bioke. The giound thus io. t was never regained, and Jock .passed the judge as fresh us a dnis\—having only broke twice in the three miles. Pack hcr.se Race of 5/. Open for all pack horses that have been pint king for two months puieir to date cf entry. Distance nice round tbn course. Rost entry, 7s. Cel. Weight, list. Mr. Callaghan’s Wild Irishman (Owner) I M’Kibboiu’s Kate (Owner) 2 Four others al-o tan. A well contested race, won easily by the Irishman. A protest was entered by M’Kibbin that t lie lit st horse was not a bona-lidc packer, which Callaghan consented to, aud handed over the stakes. Consolation Han 1 icat of 11. 10s., open to ail beaten horses during the meeting. Mr. A. H. Dougias’aß’ian OLynu (Smith) 1 Russell’s Minnie ... 2 Little Dick and Flying Cloud also ran. lIosriTAL Race of 11. 11s. *Jd. (collected on the ground). Entry, 2s Cd. 14 entries. Mr. Douglas’s Schoolboy (•’otter) 1 A Hurry Scurry of 51. was won by Mr. Russell’s Minnie, thing Cloud being second. During the day a private match came off between Mr. Cowan’s black gelding anil Mr. M’Crea’s gicy gelding, the latter coming in an easy victor. The stakes wctc 10/.
