Much interest was evinced in this race, as the horsis were well known, and betting on the result was the consequence. A fair start was effected, and Little Dick went off with a strong had, which he maintained only about half the distance, when the Cloud overhauled him, ths Maid coming well up. After settling down to work, it was seen that Jock had obtained a leading position, anil was going at a steady pace—Fidget keeping well up, and Kitty going well. After the fiist round, the race was between those three, Fidget gaining.
