DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL.

The customary monthly meeting of the Committee t>f management, was held in the Library room, Clyde, on Monday evening last, at S o'clock. Present:—J. The minutes of the previous monthly meeting,were read and confirmed, The inward and outward correspondences were read, received, and adopted. No. 1. report of Visiting Committee to the effect that the members of Committee had visited the Institution several times during and had found everything satisfactory was read and received. No. 2. report recomme uliiig payment of accounts for the past month, salaries, supplies, drugs, &c, amounting to 154/. lis., was read and adopted. In reply to comments as to the increase on the past month's expenditure, it was explained that the turn of 57/. 13s. 3d. was included for drugs, 15/. for three months lignite, anil 10.'. -is. Cd. fur furni ure, consequently the actual cost of maintaining tlo Institution inclusive of 5/, for one montL3 lignite, was only BC/. 14s. 9d., or s*. A letter was read from the Medical officer, wherein he refers to certain instruments required by the patient Keeua", and offering to defray haif the cost of I hem. FnitLer stating that every effort had, without avail, been mule to obtain them from Melbourne, and Dunodin, and that they would have to be obtained either from London or Dublin, Mr. Holt said if the instruments were obtained from England it would be necessary to keep the patient in the hous-3 f<.r six ' months longer, and he doubted if ihe Com-' ruittee were justirte I in doing so. Some further discussion ensued, when Mr. A. Christophers suggested, and it was • eventually resolved, That application be : made to the Provincial Surgeim, Dr. Hulme for the loan of the instruments if ho has them, the Committee agreeing to pr.y the co.?t of transit on them either way. Resolved, That the Secretary write to the Government and ascertain, whether, under the Stamp Act Amendment Act, 1872, cheiues drawn by hospitals and receipts for monies paid for <:oods supplied to hospitals are exempt from duty. ; ' ' Notice of motion by Mr J.
