TO THE EDITOR.

Sir., —Having attended the Spring Races held outlie Dunstan Race Course on Friday and Saturday last, and having heard on all sides such unqualified expies-sioi.s of satisfaction, I was somewhat, ash nished by the report as published in the Cromwell Argus, and headed "By our special reporter” To las statements I .-unhesitatingly give a flat contradiction. The whole report is a tissue of lies, and must have been written by some gentleman who, having lost a trifle on the various results, went home disgusted with himself, and in a tit of spleen, penned the report referred to. Having attended every meeting, both Spring and General, under the auspices of the Dunstan Jockey Club, 1 have great pleasure in according to those Gentlemen who had the management of the present meeting great praise for the spirited programme they produced .and for their management iu bringing it off so satisfactory, and I most repeat, the expressions on all sides that the Spring Meeting of 1872 was the most successful ever held on theDuustan Race Course and was enjoyed by over 350 people. In fact, by every one save and except the untruthful reporter of the Cromwell Argus With regard to the delays spoken of, there was no more than is consequent upon Post entry Races whore Handicaps | have to be made on the ground and entru s taken; and relative to the dust, if the Re- [ porter is a Cromwellite and came from that [ favored locality, perhaps the dustfiiesh of that region was not cleared frow his visions when viewing the Dunstan Race meeting of 1873. In conclusion I may remark that it is my intention-of being present at the Cromwell Meeting, and shall use my best endeavors to I gather as much pleasure as can possibly be ’ extracted, and shall consider such Races a co nplete success provided they are as well managed, as well attended, as w 11 contested, and as enjoyable as the Clyde meet--1 ing. By inserting this in your next issue, you will oblige, Tour’s, etc,, A LOVER OF TRUTH. Clyde, Sept. 29. 1872.
