KETTLE-DRUM AND CONCERT.
In Aid of the Clyde School Fcnds.
The opening of the new School House, a massive stone structure lately erected by the Clyde school Committe was celebrated on Wednesday Ist, the 25th inst., by a Kettle-drum in the afternoon an 1 a concert at a later hour. Tea-fights (Muffin bus's as some vulgar people call them) as a rule, are always successes, and this ne was no exception, the tables literally groaned with the richest of cakes aud past' y, and steamed with the strongest and sweetest of Bohea. besides the other little delicacies provided for thejlike occasions At the appointed hour the doors were thrown open, and old ami y-onng .numbering about one hundred and twenty, took their respective seats The Rev. Joshua Jones opened the proceedinds with a short impressive exhortation and the real pleasure of the little ones commenced. Every appointment of tho room was perfect, and a more plea-ing or happiei scene would be difficult fo imagine. THE CONCERT, Which was given in the Town-ball ha more adult votaries than the tea, and was most agreeable affair. To particularise tli many songs, glees, rounds, reading and recitations, would be invidious. A we e executed with taste ami judgmeu and were most favorably r-ceived Mi Smith accompanied on the piano-forte i I his usual masterly manner. Among thj visitors, were a good sprinkling of ou I Alexandra friends. At eleven o'clock, th National Anthem was sung by the fu Company and the audience, which brough the programme to an end. The room bei cleared, the lovers of the merry da-ce. wi right good will, enjoyed them-elves till tli wee hours.
