The second Half-yearly Meeting of them above Society was held an Monday last, H the 2nd inst., to receive the report of the H retiring Committee and to e'ect a new en t H for the ensuing six months, ending the 3rd ■ of March, 1873. , f Mr. P. Rankin occupied the chair, and B after briefly Stating the object of the meet. H ing, called upon the Secretary to read the report. Report. “Your Committee hj; v; much pleasure in coming bef> is the members of tho Society and laying befoie them an audited statement of accounts ; also giving a Inhf ilc . count of the business which received attention during their term of office.. •‘When youf Committee took office on the 27th of March there were one hundred and seven members on the roll, since when seven have seceded, leaving one hundred. During the existence of the Society one hundred and thirty mend exs have joined, of whichin ml ex 11 irn } ave wi'lditvu. ‘•YourCommitt.ee, during their term o( office, held nine ordinary' and one special meeting, “ Your Committee are proud to say they have been well supported in successfully carrying out the arrangements of their predecessors of giving monthly entertainments, the proceeds of which have been handed over to the various locol institutions. “ The following is a cash statement in connexion with the entertainments given by your Committee : “April 23.—Benefit of the Dunstan District Hospital. Cash received ... £l7 7 0 Expenses ... 1 18 0 £ls 9 0 “ May 24.—Benefit of Clyde School. Cash received ... £l3 13 0 Expenses ... 1 18 0 £ll 15 0 “July 17.—Benefit of Church of England. Cash received ... £8 18 6 Expenses ... 1 10 £7 17 6 “Aug. 14.--Benefit of the Society. Cash receipts ... £5 19 0 Expenses ... 3 12 0 £2 8 0 Liabilities. ‘ Tuapeka Times’ £2 7 6 ‘ Dunstan Times’... 15 0 V. Gel. has been received from various sources, of which 82f. 3s. has been expended, leaving a balance of 15s. 6u. in
the Bank.’’ The election of Committee for ensuing six months was then proceeded with, the following being the result : —Tue Rev. J, Junes, President; Mr. W. Williams, Vine. President ; W Has tie, 'Jreasurcr ; J.Puum, Secretary ; Rev. J. Jouea and Mr. At‘U»uuoohie, An ilors. A cordial vote of thanks to the retiring Committee for so successfully carrying oa the Society, was followed by a vole to the Chair, aud the meeting dispersed.
