In support (says the Pastoral Times) of the opinion that wool increases in weight from the time when it leaves Australia till it arrives in Europe, we have tho following reliable evidence :—A dozen fleeces were sent from the Warbreccan, near lieniliuquin (Messrs. Shanahan and Jennings’s station), to the Sydney Exhibition. These were carefully weighed at the shed when they averaged 91b. Boz. They averaged in Sydney 91b. lloz., and when weighed in London they averaged 91b. 140z., thus giving 6oz. on each skin. As they were specimens and selected skins intended for exhibition, and were exhibited at the Bradford Chamber of Commerce, they were carefully enclosed in a tin case. We submit that this is a fair test in regard to this much debated question, and proves that under the most careful management wooj gains inito transit between two and time per cent.—in the ordinary packing in wool bales the per centage will be much higher.
