—o — At a meeting of the Mount Benger Progress Committee, the following resolutions were passed, and have heen handed to ns for publication : “The Mi unt Benger P-ogress Crrrmittee deplore the action taken by the Provincial Government in disposing of the Land in this District, particularly th Island Block, the £O,OOO acre Block to Mr. Clarke, and mi re recently, 20,G 0 acres to Cargilj and Anderson, each of -which Blocks cm. brace a very large extent of first class Agricultural Land, which was urgently re. qrtired, and would have immediately been taken up for settlement, had the Government afforded facilities for snch purpose.” “ That this Committee, while deploring the who'esi.le disposal of the Land to capitalists, desire to point out the glaring injustice of the action of the Government in raising such large in-runts if rtoney in the District, and expending comparatively speaking nothing whatever in improvements of roads,' or in fact any necessary pu blio-Wcrk in any part,of the DialticC"
