AUCKLAND. May 21. The Hero amoved from Sydney. Fears are entertained for the safety of the City of Melbourne, which left five days before her. , Had forty-eight passengers for San Francisco, and eighteen for Auckland, also the San Francisco Mails. It is thought probable that the Melbourne's machinery has been damaged, and may have put back in consequence. It is suggested that the Hosario should search the north-west coast cf the Island, in case the Melbourne should have met with an accident. The Post Office authorities have withdrawn he notice regarding the despatch of the outward San Francisco Mail this t month, t MUST POUT. The sea is making great havoc at the end of Gladstonc-strect. The corner house washed away. The Empire Hotel has been pulled down to escape destruction.
