CLYDE SCHOOL.

A committee meeting was held at the Schoolhouae on Friday the 10th of May at 7,30. p.m. Present, Messrs. Rankin, M'Connochie, Hastic, Hazlett, Griudley, Christophers, and Aldridge. Mr. Hazlett occupied the chair. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Messrs. M’Connochie and Rankin reported that Mr. Walter Jones had agreed to take charge of the School until a new Master is .appointed. Salary, School fees, and Government subsidy. A letter from the “Association for the promotion of National Education in New Zealand ” and copy of Petitions were read and received. On the atotion of Mr. Hastio, it was resolved, that the views of the Association be adopted, and that Messrs. Hazlett, Rankin, and M'Connochie be appointed to canvass for signatures to the Petitions, and for subscriptions. Applications for the appointment of Schoolmaster were read from Mr. S. M. Clark, Walter Jones. F. J. Fraser, W. Johnson, and G. F. South. Mr. Rankin proposed that the election be postponed for one week. Mr. Has tie proposed an amendment, that it be proceeded with at once, and taken by ballot. The amendment was carried, and upon a poll being taken, Mr, Clark kobtained three votes, Mr. Jones, three, and Mr. South, one. The Chairman gave bis casting vote in favor of, and declared Mr, Jones elected, subject to bis obtaining a certificate, and the appointment being confirmed by the Educational P>oard.
