DUNSTAN BAND OF HOPE.

The usual half-yearly meeting was held at the School Room on the 27th ult., for the purpose of receiving the report of the retiring Committee, and to elect a fresh Committee for the ensuing six months. The report, as follows, was read aiid received : Your Committee have much pleasure in conrng before the general members of the Society and laying before them a correct account of their stewardship during the six months ending March 27, 1872, being their term of office.

The Dunstan Baud of Hope was established at Clyde on the Ist of September, 1871, by Mr. Peter Rankin, when juvenile members to the number of thirty-three enrolled their names. O.i the 27th of October, a public meeting was convened by Mr. Rankin in the Clyde Public Library, for the purpose of giving an explanation of the working and good accruing from similar societies. At the conchas!- uof the meeting a Commit!ce was appoint ’d, consisting of seven members, im hiding a President, Treasui or, and Secretary': three to form a quorum. A sub-Committce was also appointed to prepare a code-of rules for the judicious working of the Society. The first business brought before your Committe was a “ Kettle-drum,” in aid of the funds of the Clyde School This was held on the evening of the Bth of December, at the Town Hall, and, with great pleasure, your Committee have to inform you that it was an unqualified success, the proceeds amounting to 22/. Os. (id. ; total expenses, 41. Is. ; balance contributed to the School funds, 17/. 16°. Cd. On the Hth of December your Committee opened an account current with the Bank of New South Wales, and also passed a resolution to the effect that all moneys be paid into the Bank, ami all accounts paid by cheque signed by the Secretary and Treasurer. . Your Committee have made arrangements with the Clyde Town Council for the use of the Town Hall one night in each month, for twelve months from the Ist of March, 1872, for the sum of 10/.. the Council supplying oil and lamps. The object your Committee have in view is to hold entertainments monthly, for .the benefit of local institutions. *-< ‘ if! held twelve ordinary meetings, the minutes of which have lean c'uly enteral in t'e minute book, which is at all times open to inspection bv members of the Society. The following gentlemen were afterwards elected a Committee for the ensuing halfyear :—Messrs. M‘Comindue, Petrie,lVebb, M’Ewen, Atkins, Eankin (Treasurer), and Hastic (Secretary). A vote of thanks was recorded to the Bcv. J. Jones for his services on behalf of the Society, and the meeting closed with the usual v o'.o to the chairman.
