CLYDE SCHOOL.
A committee meeting was held on Tuesday evening last in the School-house. the minutes of the last two meetings were read and confirmed. 'J he following letters were read and recciyed—From the Dunstan Band of Hope, asking use of School-room on the 27th instant to hold their half yearly meeting, Matthews and Fenwick, dated March 9, 18/2. B. Naylor, enclosing donations amounting to 41. 35., in aid of the School funds. From the Secretary of the Educational Board, dated Jan. 2ti, 1872, advising, vote of 1251. for a new school-house, and containing instructions for the sale of the old one. From the Secretary of the Educational Boaul. dated Jan. 27, 1872, containing a cojiy of the Board's resolutions us to reading the Bible during school. From the Secretary of the , Educational Board dated the 14th and 21st February, remitting 20'. for school repairs. Resolved, that the Band of Hope’s request be granted.
Resolved, that a vote of thanks be re corded and conveyed to Mr. Naylor. Resolved that the Board's resolution Bo referred to the Schoolmaster for his guidance. It was resolved that the Government be recommended to sell the School-house at the next, But one land sale, notice of which should be given By advertisement two or three times in the D’instan Times —upset price to Be 501.. The Belfry, stove and closet not to Be sold, But moved, if required to the now Building, The Schoolmaster’s reports for January and February were read and received. Accounts to the amount of 101. 9s. was passed for payment. Tenders for the erection of the new School-house were then opened and read as follows J. Taylor, Cromwell £C72 G. A. Smith, Queenstown, 681) J. U. Cambridge, Clyde, 505 6. 1). Clayton, Queenstown, 456 do • 546, Brick. John Antal, Queenstown, 750, brick. W. Petrie, Clyde, 455, stone. . do (plaster work only), 160. Petrie & Clyde, 460, stone, do (plaster work only), 160. A letter from Mr. Bnnvcll, Architect, Queenstown, dated March 15, pointing out unnecessary waste of timber, &c., was also read and received. It was resolved that no tender Bo accepted, owing to the lowest amounting to 1001. more than the Committee’s estimates

Burwell be apprised of the Committee’s decision, and asked whether he will undertake to prepare new plans and specifications as stated in his letter, on the condition that no charge is to be made in the event of th« lowest bvna fide, satisfactory tender exceeding 350f. On the other hand,’, should circumstances justify the Committee in accepting one, what would he the fee for the work, including or not including necessary supervision. The Clerk and Schoolmaster were appointed to engage a person *o regularly clean the' School-house in place of Mrs. Phinn.
