The LytHefon Times condemns the New P isons Actve-y strongly. It say;—“lt is the general framework of the act, and tin a -surdity of its chief provisions or rather he absurdities to which they will inevi abbgive rise, that we take exeep ion to. -It is right and proper that rules shmil 1 be made and strictly e iforeel t» prevent the indiscriminate sale of deadly poisons; but that is a different matter altogether from makine.law to comply with which will in many cases he utterly impossible, and, m a large majorityof cases, simnlyludicrmis. We venture to say lhat this unfortunate law, which fm so far as we are aware, there was no nece siy whatever, will be hrok-n twenty times every day by every druggist in the colony -in some cases wittingly, or unavoida'ly, and in other? unwittingly or at best with a half-consciousness of trangrossion. It will impede the transaction of or.iin ry bn S i ne!B to a very great extent, will harass and perplox men who conscientiously wish to do their duty by those whom they serve, while it will not preVi nt the unprincipled from doing things they ought not to do and will both terrify and disgw-t the public to an extent they have yet no idea of. It is decidedlythe most ill-judged pieee of legislation we remember to have met with. The intentions of the fi aimers were doubtless but the Act is a serious blunder. ” ,
