THE LATE FIRES.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE DUNSTAN TIMES. Sir:—Some long ti.ne since 1 b lave there was a Fire Brigade formed, and at the time there was great talk what would lie done for the purpose of ren .e. iug assistance at any time that a tire might break ont in the town. Now, with tne exception of the purchasing a number of buckers, and two little garden engines, (perfectly useless), nothing further has ever been attempted, and we remain exactly in the same position as ever, jierfcc’ - ly useless in the subduing of any tire that may occur. Now, Sir, it has occurred to mo tha after the two tires that hj. ■ a occurred this week, sufficient notice has necu given for some energetic action to be taken i i the matter, and I would suggest that a meeting be called at the earliest onpor unity, for the purpose of re organising the Brigade, and for that body to suggos-. something practical to be of assista ce when called upon. I remain, Sir RATEPAYER. Clyde, Jan. 28, 1872.
