The Statutory meetings for the election of School' Committees will he held on Alonday next the oth instant. 11 is very rarely that a prosperous society has to consider the question of “winding up,” but the Court “ Star of the Dunstan ” Foresters’ Sooit + ; is, according to the tenor of an adrenic ment appearing in column, about to seriousiv diser of doing so. It appears ■Bf the whole brunt and burden of carry--0,1 t '' ic l |l,s ” !ess °f H>c Court, has, for a time past, devolved on some few mem hers, and those who r- ally receive the j greatest benefit from the nmds of the Society, studiously avoid tt'-ing any share m Hie responsibility f management. A Digger’s purse, horse race; for five sovereigns, again won by Sly, and a trotting match for sweepstakes, won by Flemings Polly. Host Peiriam of the Welcome Home was the heart and soul of the day's sports, and moreover most liberally' provided a capital ropa-t, to which he gave one and all a free and hearty welcome. A new year's days sports, of more than ■average interest, came off on the Cromwell Race-course under the management of gentlemen, who, by their liberality and ener- ~ getic efforts, provided the wherewithal, and conducted the sports to a satisfactory issue. The days amusement c. mprised a Hospital Race 12/. ss. 6d., bringing six horses to the post, and which was won by Air. Smitliam’s Alaster King. A trotting race for 51.. >±wo iitiles Vp'n, won by Air.
