DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL.

The usual monthly meeting of the Committee of the Dunstan District Hospital was hold in the Town Hall, Clyde, on the evening of the 9th inst. Present : Messrs. Hazlett (Chairman), Christophers (Treasurer), Grind ley, Marshall, Naylor, Faehe, Feraud, Beck, and Barlow (Secretary). The Resident Surgeon was also present. The outward correspondence was read and approved, and tho inward correspondence received.

The Visiting Committee’s No. 1 report, expressing satisfaction with the general management of the Hospital, and stating that the rumors of the dissatisfaction of the jv-atients at their treatment were without the slightest foundation, was fcad and received. Tho Visiting Committee’s No. 2 report, recorfiraending the payment of accounts and salaries to the amount of £153 6s. 7d., was also adopted. The Treasurer’s r port, as follows, was read and adopted : Balance due to Bank, as per last report ... ... 299 15 5 Accounts since paid... .. 74 7 8 £374 3 1 Subscriptions since received .. 45 2 0 Liabilities : Balance due to Bank ... 329 1 1 Accounts unpaid ... ... 318 4 0 &47 5 1 Assets : Government subsidy due ... £519 3 0 Tho Secretary reported that large sums had been collected by local committees, but had not been handed in. He anticipated that by the end of the month the Institution would he out of debt.

The Resident Surgeon’s Report, as follows, was read an 1 received Number of patients in Hospital on the Ist of December, eighteen ; since admitted, fifteen ; discharged, cured or relieve'', sixteen ; remaining in Hospital on the 31st of December, seventeen. Daily average number of patients, eighteen and one-third. The patients admitted were from the following places : Clyde, two ; Alexandra, four; Dunstan Creek, two; Da Valley, two; Bendigo, four : Cromwell, one. A special report from the Resident Surgeon, in reference to the child Kate M'ilveray, was also receivea. Tire Secretary was instructed to ask the Provincial Government to admit the child into the Dunedin Hospital. On the motion of Air. .darshall, seconded by Mr. Grindley, the annual meeting of subscribers wa- tixed for the 27th iust.

A sub-committee, consisting of the Prosi suit, Treasurer, Secretary, ami Air. G. Pache, was appointed to draw up an annual report, and, after passing a vote of thanks to the Chairman, the meeting adjourned.
